A closed day should look closed

Weekends and holidays reveal why market closure, missing data, and the next real session must remain distinct states.

SessionsCalendarTruthfulnessEvent Horizon

Weekends and holidays exposed a basic problem: a market-awareness instrument should never make a closed day look like an ordinary trading session with missing data.

Treat the calendar as part of market state

The primary clock, footer, and agenda need one authoritative understanding of trading days.

On a weekend or holiday, NOWEDGE should say that the market is closed and identify the next real trading session.

Keep the future visible

A closed current day should not empty the rest of the instrument. The next holiday, upcoming session, and future catalysts can remain relevant.

Absence and closure are different states

“No session today” is not the same as “session data is unavailable.” The interface needs to distinguish those conditions so silence is not mistaken for failure.

WHAT WE LEARNED

Closure is a real state, not an empty one.

  • The calendar is part of the market-state model.
  • A closed day can still contain useful future context.
NEXT

Make every surface agree about the trading day.

  1. Implement a shared session-calendar model.
  2. Validate Labor Day weekend through the next regular trading day.
