Reduce the app icon to two candles

An early identity direction uses the product’s simplest visual idea: Prior Day and Today, one red candle and one green candle.

BrandApp iconCandlemacOS

The first icon direction moved toward the product itself: two simple candles representing Prior Day and Today, rendered as a clean macOS mark without text.

Make the icon recognizable at a glance

The preferred treatment uses only one red and one green candle. It should feel close to the actual Candle graphics, retain a subtle relationship to the Clock, and avoid lettering or ornamental detail.

Repair the asset setup before judging the mark

The first asset entry was not behaving like a valid Xcode asset catalog. The next step is to recreate it correctly and evaluate the icon in a real build.

WHAT WE LEARNED

Let the product supply the first symbol.

  • The strongest early brand cue may be the simplest product cue.
  • An icon should be judged at Dock and Finder scale, not only as a large illustration.
NEXT

Test the idea at the size where it must work.

  1. Rebuild the asset catalog.
  2. Test the icon at macOS sizes.
  3. Keep the mark separate from the larger naming work still ahead.
