The broad dashboard concept narrowed into a focused instrument: compare the completed Prior Day with Today on QQQ while respecting the boundaries between Premarket, Regular Trading Hours, and After Hours.
Combine historical structure with live price
The next Xcode build used consolidated historical data for Prior Day and an immediate live feed for Today. Demo mode made the visual behavior testable outside a live session.
Do not draw a candle before it exists
Premarket shows a current-price marker without fabricating a Today candle. The Today candle begins at the regular-session open, while After Hours returns to a separate marker and retains the completed session’s statistics.
Establish the first live Candle checkpoint
The following build applied those session rules and became the first working live QQQ Candle milestone: v0.1 Candle Live.
The general dashboard finds its first real instrument.
- A convincing market display can still be wrong if it ignores session boundaries.
- Show only the structure the market has actually produced.
Test it against the day it claims to describe.
- Run the Candle through a full trading day.
- Inspect rollover and VWAP behavior.
- Harden recovery before adding more information.
