Try the Candle
Drag the price slider or choose a preset. Watch the candle and its messages respond, then explore the Behind the scenes controls. All data is simulated.
Why we’re building the Candle
A price by itself tells only part of the story. Where does it sit inside yesterday’s range? How does it compare with VWAP? How far through the session are we? The Candle brings those reference points together in a small part of the NOWEDGE dashboard.
The aim is to reduce the effort of gathering context. Today and the prior day sit side by side. Reference levels remain visible, the session has its own progress strip, and the message area separates the price’s relationship to VWAP from an event that has just happened.
What to watch as you move the price
VWAP means volume-weighted average price. In this demo, blue identifies the one-day reference and orange identifies the two-day reference. The optional shaded “orbits” show the bands around those references.
Try Inside 1D, then Inside 2D. The message names the orbit containing the simulated price. Change the VWAP arrangement to Identical and try Inside 2D again: the message now identifies converging VWAPs. Outside both orbits, the percentage readout uses the valid one-day VWAP reference.
The range badge answers a different question: where is price relative to the prior day? Try Above prior high or Below prior low to explore its response. The separate VWAP row keeps that information available alongside the range context.
Go behind the scenes
The additional controls let you examine situations that are hard to compare while watching a live market. Switch between separated, overlapping, nested, and identical VWAP bands. Hide a reference. Show orbit shading. Change the session label or move its progress bar.
Try “Price ages after a valid observation” to see the difference between current and last-known information. A retained reading is labeled as last known; it cannot create a new crossing alert. Starting without a fresh price or using stale VWAP data produces a different state. Choose fresh data again to resume moving the price.
Recent events and how to read this, below the playground, explains the crossing messages and their timing. Reset returns the controls to the starting example.
An interactive preview of work in progress
This playground uses simulated prices, reference levels, and session data. It demonstrates the display’s behavior; it is not a live market feed, a trade recommendation, or a complete reproduction of the native app.
Live data continuity remains under review. Native pointer inspection, some session-specific behavior, and animated message transitions are not fully reproduced here. The next step is to keep refining the Candle against real app testing while making its behavior easier to understand through this interactive example.
